What is Family Health Insurance?

One policy, the whole household covered

Family Health Insurance covers you, your partner and your children under a single policy, giving everyone in your household access to private diagnosis and treatment when they need it. Rather than arranging separate policies, a family policy is usually simpler to manage and can work out more cost-effective than insuring each person individually.

As with individual cover, every policy is built from core cover plus optional extras, so you can shape it around what matters most to your family – and adjust it as your circumstances change.

How we find your best price

How we find your best price

Family circumstances vary hugely – the number and ages of children, whether both partners need cover, and what matters most to your household – so a generic figure wouldn’t reflect what’s right for you.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask about your family and your priorities, then compare cover and pricing across our panel of leading UK insurers to find the option that gives your household the best value. It’s free, independent, and there’s no obligation to proceed.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a new baby to our policy?

Most insurers allow you to add a new child to an existing family policy, often within a set window after birth. We’ll explain how this works for the insurers we compare.

Does Family Health Insurance cover pregnancy and childbirth?

Generally, maternity care is provided by the NHS and isn’t part of standard private health insurance. We’re happy to talk through exactly what is and isn’t typically included when you get in touch.

Is it cheaper to insure the family together, rather than separately?

It can be, though it depends on your circumstances and the insurer — this is exactly the sort of comparison we do for you, so you don’t have to work it out policy by policy.

What age do children come off a family policy?

This varies by insurer, but many allow children to stay on the policy into their late teens or while in full-time education. We’ll confirm specifics for the policies we compare for you.

How much does this cost me?

Nothing — our comparison and advice service is completely free and independent. We’re paid by the insurer once you take out a policy, not by you.
